South East Queensland Bulk Water Concealed Leak Remission Scheme
Customers in South East Queensland who have had a concealed leak can receive a remission on the excess bulk water charge from Seqwater.
This remission scheme helps with the financial impact of a concealed leak and helps to prevent customers from falling into financial hardship. The scheme provides the following remission:
- 100% of the excess bulk water charge for eligible pensioners
- 70% of the excess bulk water charge for other eligible customers.
This financial relief is in addition to the remission available from the five water service providers in South East Queensland.
You must be eligible for a concealed leak remission from your water service provider to receive the remission from Seqwater.
What is a concealed leak?
A concealed leak is a leak from the customer’s plumbing that is hidden from view.
A concealed leak can be difficult to notice and can create an unexpected and stressful expense – both to fix the leak and because of the excess water that flows through the water meter, which the customer will be charged for on their water bill.
You may be eligible for a concealed leak remission from your service provider.
Your service provider’s concealed leak remission policy is available on their website:
How do I check whether I have a concealed leak?
Your service provider has information on their website on:
- how to check for a concealed leak
- what to do if you find a concealed leak.
It is important to check your water meter frequently.
Finding and fixing a concealed leak as soon as possible will lower the impact on your water bill.
How the scheme works
To receive a concealed leak remission, you need to make an application with your water service provider.
An application form is available on their website.
Under the remission scheme, Seqwater will contribute to the concealed leak remission that eligible customers receive from their water service provider.
Seqwater will contribute:
