Investigations

What prompts an investigation

Investigations can be initiated in many ways, including:

  • members of the public reporting suspected non-compliance
  • regulated stakeholders providing adverse reports (e.g. water quality) or failing to provide reports or information regarding their authorised activities when required
  • other agencies sending information about suspected non-compliance
  • our monitoring and assurance teams uncovering non-compliances through auditing programs.
