Summary
Updates were made to the Queensland interim water meter standard for non-urban metering and the Telemetry and data logger guideline. The water meter standard was originally published as one document with multiple modules and the telemetry guideline was a separate document.
The telemetry and data logger requirements provided in the separate guideline have been incorporated into the standard.
The standards have also been re-named and re-structured as a measurement standard series.
The following changes have been made:
- terminology has been updated to reflect recent amendments to the Water Act 2000 and Water Regulation 2016
- inconsistent and unnecessary requirements have been removed where these conflicted with national standards or manufacturing standards
- departmental requirements have been removed where these were deemed unnecessary and in conflict with other requirements
- language has been updated to meet digital accessibility requirements
These updates don’t change the existing obligations that water users have to measure their water use. Nor does it increase costs or regulatory burden on businesses or the community in the plan area. It is not subject to further Regulatory Impact Analysis under the Queensland Government Better Regulation Policy 2023.
