Focus area two: Remove barriers

Volunteering needs to be easy to discover, access and take part in. Queenslanders are balancing work, study, caring responsibilities and personal commitments, creating demand for options that are flexible, inclusive and suited to different circumstances.

Volunteer-involving organisations also face cost pressures and legal, regulatory and administrative requirements. Removing unnecessary barriers will help organisations focus more of their time and resources on engaging, supporting and retaining volunteers.

Why this matters

Making volunteering easier and more accessible will help more Queenslanders participate, regardless of their location, background, ability or stage of life. A clearer and easier to navigate operating environment will also help organisations engage and support volunteers more effectively, creating more opportunities for participation, innovation and community impact.
