Focus area three: Value volunteers

Volunteers make an important contribution to Queensland. They support essential services, strengthen communities and create significant social, economic and community benefits.

Volunteering also benefits those who take part, building their skills, confidence, social connections and growing a sense of belonging. Recognising this contribution can inspire more people to get involved and strengthen support for volunteering across government, business and the community.

Why this matters

When volunteers feel valued, connected and supported, they are more likely to continue volunteering and encourage others to participate. Positive experiences and meaningful recognition help sustain participation and strengthen Queensland’s culture of volunteering.
